Another Tree

family-tree

The tree signifies great strength to me,

growth and connections are clear to see.

Stable roots that are earthed holding tight,

a trunk that is solid by day or by night.

The tree reaches out, to earth and to sky,

animals nesting and birds passing by.

Children swing from the strongest bow,

Returning again to show their young how.

The tree will give us hundreds of years,

of kisses under and plenty of tears.

Those that bare fruit apples and pears,

will feed us for free and take off our cares.

Kindness

It doesn’t take a whole lot,

to put a kindness out each day.

To help a friend in trouble,

and send them on their way.

To notice what’s occurring,

by opening up  your eyes.

To do a little something special,

give someone a surprise.

It doesn’t take much time at all,

to smile a little more.

With your hat and coat,

to put your smile on at the door.

To brighten up anothers day,

really takes no time at all.

Before going to a party,

give that lonely friend a call.

It doesn’t cost to give out love,

you’ll get it back for sure.

The more you give the more you get,

there is always plenty more.

And if you are ever feeling lonely,

or ever really blue.

You’ll be amazed how much love,

is given back to you.

Suppressed Love

img_2616

Deep underneath, where no one goes

There is a dam, where deep love flows

Of brightest green, kept tight inside

A place where her trapped love resides

It’s stored below, way out of view

She’ll appear so dry and hard to you

But below the surface, hidden well

There is love, but you could never tell

She built it well, with walls so strong

Built so high, for lasting long

Believing that, if no one views

She won’t get hurt, it won’t turn blue

So break this dam down if you can

Let her love flow out into the land

Teach her that if she gives love out

It will replenish, without a doubt

Liking my Own Company

I’m not lonely anymore now, I just like to be alone.

If you need me you can get me, I’ll always have my phone.

I’ve got used to my own company, I don’t worry what I say.

If you interrupt my solitude, you’ll have to go away.

It’s funny being by yourself, you have no one to blame.

No one turns the TV over, as that’s the greatest pain.

One plate and pan for washing up, a minute or so to do.

It’s not that I’m not interested, not that I don’t like you.

I’ve just got rather long in the tooth, prefer my own company.

So do me a favour and bugger off,  I’m happier when it’s only me.

It Takes Daring…

img_2511

It takes some daring, to look at yourself,

clearly, no holds barred.

See the picture others see,

the brightness and the scars.

Inspect ourselves with a critical eye,

not missing anything out.

Stopping where we need to stop,

in attempt to work it out.

It takes some daring, to stand naked,

unprotected from all eyes.

Without the shrouds that cover us,

mistakes and all the lies.

To look beyond the physical self,

look deep into the soul.

See that we’ve not always been,

as focused on the goal.

It takes some daring, to really listen,

to hear what others hear.

Not muffled by our egos,

but hearing loud and clear.

To listen to our mistakes,

to hear what we got wrong.

It’s so much easier to think about,

the future paths we’re on.

Forbidden Love

I love you as I never should,

so bittersweet, misunderstood

I love you but it can never be,

a forbidden love I’ve come to see

I love you but it cannot show,

my love for you  will nowhere go

I love you making you my queen,

a love so strong and yet unseen

~

Do I care what others say,

if my love were to see the day

Does it really matter to me,

love unreturned, not to be

Could it ever come to being,

loving you and others seeing

I understand this loves so wrong,

but for your heart I will always long.

Dawn

At break of dawn you leave me, I’m alone again so soon

Once more the vacant feeling, spills into the room.

As the night turns into morning, you bid me farewell

That you ever were truly here, is impossible to tell

That’s how my life is working now, I have you while asleep

As daytime comes you go again, into my memories deep

I won’t complain out loud my love, I want you to return

I need you close at night with me, while grief I try to learn.

One day I understand dear, I’ll have to sleep alone

When I get a little stronger, understand the empty home

I’m not asking for eternity, but please stay a little while

It’s only in my sleeping time, that you bring me back my smile

Grace of Nature

IMG_4908

The embodiment of graceful, you as you near to me.

as graceful as a big white swan, gliding purposefully.

A gentle sparrow on the wing, the songbird you can see,

the pigeons as they gently kiss, as graceful as can be.

x

So truly very graceful, like the head of a falling rose,

dipping gently towards earth, with dignity not woe.

and as she lies out on her bed, the end is coming soon

gracefully she kisses earth, where her love once bloomed.

Strong Woman

img_2548

Strong woman you’re amazing, you take my breath away

With a meekness that’s inspiring, I watch you every day

Your strength so understated, but so very clearly there

I see in in all things you do, in the passion of your care.

*

I know you learnt the hard way, it’s what made you strong

Knocks you had along the way, the days that were so long

But out of all those lessons, you found a strength within

You stood up tall and carried on, oh how did you begin

*

Strong woman tell me what you learnt, show me the way

I so want to be as strong as you, I’d like to start off today

With a meekness that hits me hard, not weak in any way.

Will I have to understand your pain, to walk with you today.
