From the Heart
A rose does not just become a thing of beauty and joy. To reach this point the rose has pushed its way up from the depths of earth, battled the elements and fought for survival. When a rose opens and blooms it is because it has reached its final destination having travelled to get there. When you see that beautiful rose, or in fact any flower, let it be a reminder of your own path, life is full of pathways that lead us to openings.

Death is not that bad at all,
as it helps me to be alive,
Staring death right in the face,
I know I now survive.
I’m living in the moment,
who knows if I’ll get more,
I live today for what it is,
not caring what’s in store.
Future days may not exist,
if it’s today I’m due to die.
Is tomorrow really relevant,
if so I can’t think why?

Sometimes we ask ourselves what is the point, everything appears futile, pointless, we loose all motivation, we’re down on ourselves. At times like these I try and remind myself, it’s okay to have these feelings as long as they don’t become a larger part of who I am.
It’s important to recognise our feelings, allow them in and sit with them if we are going to be able to understand them and move them on. Life is full of ups and downs and we have to take the rough with the smooth. If was life was full of joy all the time how would we know when to celebrate, how would we know what joy feels like.
We have to believe that all things will pass, look back and know that nothing ever came to us without reason. Everything that happens is destined, it’s all part of the greater plan and sometimes that requires a bit of a shake up. This is the point you see, the point we were questioning and the answer is we need to be exactly where we are right now, because only now leads us into tomorrow.

At the end of our days what matters most is that we opened ourselves up to experience, we trod boldly through the fields of life and met the challenges head on. We didn’t give up, we overcame and learnt from each experience. If the world is a better place for having you in it, if you gave yourself fully despite the challenges, you made it, and in doing so made the world a better place. The flower that does not open will always remain a bud, for they have to flower to become and to know themselves.

A flower does not stop opening because of a storm, a tree continues to hold out its branches, even though for both of these, petals are damaged and leaves often blown away. Life can be a series of storms, it’s how we face them that matters. Change is natural and there is little we can do about it, challenges come and go, this is nature and all part of being alive. Live to the full each day whatever life presents, just as storms will blow over all things will pass.

We have to become what we want in the world. If we want love we need to become love, give love and only see love. The world at the moment is in need of love. When we come together with a common goal anything is possible. The world is full of those that follow the masses. It’s time to mass together to create an abundance of love, massive love.

That which is true will sit well in our hearts. Our duty is to find our own truth, be our own teachers and reach our own conclusions. The heart will always open to what it believes to be true.

The beach is empty but for the waves that greet the shore, there is a stillness.
The surf rolls in bringing with it the shingle and small shells caught up in the momentum of the moment. They tumble towards the land from the tips of the waves and fall into place upon the shore. This happens under the control of the tides, the tides under the control of the moon. The shingle has no choice in the matter it waits where it lands. The shoreline sparkles in the sunlight, this pinks and whites, the blues and silvers, the solid browns and mottled are placed on the earth at the will of the tides.
This could also reflect our own earthly lives as we tumble from the womb into families as individuals. The warmth and glow of a loving family may shine upon us or as if by night the dark and coldness of a family bereft of love. What surrounds us in our earthly existence is left to chance. It is what we make of the opportunity, how we relate to those around us and how we blend in or stand out and makes a difference.
Like the waves that hit the shore we will be met with challenges. Some will throw us up and into the unknown, many will require us to start again – it is eternal.
We will shine in the sunlight, be buried from view and occasionally be left in the dark. This is the power of the universe we are joined to, at one with. As the shingle makes a beach and goes on to make land, as individuals we make mankind and influence the future of the earth.
We are connected by chance, but our goal is to become one with the universe by finding ourselves among the shingle.
When you look into the mirror do you see your family staring back, do you utter the words they once said, have the same tastes, interests and suffer similar ailments? It is only nature reflected back at us in that mirror to our connection with past generations. Take the seeds that go to make the face of the sunflower that when planted grow into beautiful strong sunflowers. We are as nature intended and grow from the seeds of past generations.

Just as there is a base to a mountain, a shore to a lake and an edge to a desert. Everything in this life has a beginning, middle and end. It is up to us to recognise these stages and make preparations. A swimmer walks into the lake from the shore in full knowledge that it will get deeper, the mountaineer gathers the equipment he will need to ascend the mountain and the man crossing the desert ensures he has plenty of water for the journey. However steep or rough the journey ahead of you may be, take opportunity to pause in the transition zone and make sure you are prepared for the journey ahead in body, mind and spirit.
