From the Heart
After the rain the sun comes out
and everything looks brighter.
After the storm we’ll take a rest,
we don’t need to be fighters.
The sun will brighten up our day,
things a little more possible.
Now we see the bridge is in sight,
and understand it’s crossable.
The winds are not so feisty now,
In fact I’d call them calm.
Now’s the time to take a walk,
please let me hold your arm.

It is usually only after each storm in our lives can we understand its purpose. As each rainfall batters the flowers, so it also nourishes the soil they grow from.

An extra nature lesson today at the request of a blogging friend 🙂
Cut flowers continue to live in our homes, they continue to open, turn towards the light, drink water, smell and metabolise. My flowers last longer when I talk to them and stroke their petals, weird maybe but fascinating all the same. There is probably a perfectly logical scientific explanation for this, but I like to think it’s a reminder that life goes on.

Remember those that have left before us, not with sadness and misery but with joy and celebration. Isn’t that what they would have wanted, is that not what we want for our own children when our time comes for us to make that final journey. If we want to be remembered in happiness, we should practice it while we live, let our children know now, that happiness is okay, let it be our epitaph.

I enter my mystical garden,
when I have enough of life.
Life might get on top of me,
or there is too much strife.
I tread the golden pathway,
to see what it has in store.
I get messages from nature there,
I hope there’s many more.
It’s the garden of awakening,
I leave any doubts at home.
This is a time for contemplation,
I always go there alone.
I’m never alone when I enter,
as the garden comes alive.
It teaches me simplicity,
answers my where’s and why’s.
I’ll tell you how to get there,
if you feel you want to go.
It’s a garden of development,
a place where all souls grows.

Does the flower open itself up to the universe, or is each flowers opening a communication from the universe. Think about what the opening flower is sending out into the world, wonderful colours, aroma and a vision to behold. As we open up ourselves, at whatever point we are, we act as a channel for universal love. Each opening is a gateway and opportunity for giving and receiving.

The tree stands firm with its roots securely attached to the earth. It reaches up with all its branches to the stars, even those branches that bend gently towards the earth, started their journey facing the sky. Blossoms fly from branches painting the world, fruits provide goodness and leaves fall like love and kindness to nourish the earth. The tree throughout its life, continues to reach for the stars. The pattern of the bark and circles within the trunk surly tell us something, but for now I think we should just spread ourselves widely and reach for the stars.

How far do we actually go. Do we ever really go much further than the surface, staring through murky waters, looking for answers. Are we just floating on the surface like the leaf on a pond. I suppose that would depend on if we are looking up at the tree we fell from or on to where we might be heading.

Nature teaches us there is a time for life, a time for how long things will live, from flowers, to trees there is usually an expectation. Life is not endless, there is a time to live and a time to die. Given this, every moment is precious, every day brings new possibilities. Flowers do not close because there is a cloud overhead, so why should we?
