The Most Precious Thing in my Life Is?

I was in a workshop yesterday, I was given a piece of paper with the words ‘The most precious thing in my life is…’ I had to finish this sentence off.  It was off the cuff, I didn’t have time to think about it I just had to stand up and do it.  Well I didn’t have to but I agreed to give it a go.

The most precious thing in my life is…… knowing myself, because only through knowing my true self, can I know anyone or anything else outside of this.  If I find life through my heart, not allowing myself to be led by my mind or ego I can truly connect with life.  My connections will be meaningful, my understanding will be deeper and my view of life outside of myself will be my own, or at least from my heart.

I spoke quite a bit, rambled on maybe, but that was the gist of it.  I’m on a journey of self enquiry, I’m looking for the meaning of life, I’m discovering my purpose and this is very precious to me. There are a lot of precious things in my life, people, memories, nature, writing, but I think they are precious because I connect with them from the heart.

I’m sure our views change daily, dependent on circumstances and emotions but this was how I felt yesterday and today.

Can you answer the question, I would love to hear your views in the comments?

The Invisible Branch

We are born into family, our first attachments here on earth.  We branch out from there into different groups, making friends along the way.  These people we meet, the ones that touch our hearts become our family too.  There is not far we can travel on this earth or beyond where those special relationships do not continue, an invisible branch that holds us with love always.

Nature Lessons 101

We all view things slightly differently depending on our involvement and personal opinion. Sometimes our view is dependent on where we stand in a room, our personal experiences and what we see and hear.  It is good to bare this in mind when considering the views of others and remain open to the fact that we might not know everything. There is always something new to learn in life.

Nature Lessons 99

If we stop and take a good look at ourselves, peal back those layers like the petals of a flower, we will find the true self.  The self that is at the heart of each of us, that which is full of love and forgiveness, that which does not judge and simply knows us in truth.  Think about those layers, can you allow any of them to fall away, can you find your heart centre?

Fearing the Future

I’m scared of seeing myself honestly,

for the person I truly am.

Without the props and dressing up,

I  really don’t think I can.

That’s not your plan for me today,

you insist I look in the mirror.

The mirror of truth to introspect,

bring the self a little nearer.

Fear in my heart, a shortness of breath,

I just want to stay in bed.

Hide myself, keep eyes shut tight,

each moment filled with dread.

I’ve prayed, begged and cried,

what more can I do so you’ll listen.

Give me more time, let me linger here,

please don’t let me loose my position.

Your pulling me now, there’s no turning back,

then over the edge do I fall.

My wings open up, I’m starting to fly,

all the fear led to nothing at all.

Nature Lessons 98

The pathway of a the flower is clear, from bud, to full bloom to decay.  The flower continues to grow, moving through all these stages of her life in absolute beauty.   Does the flower already know her path, is she connected to the eternal source when she reaches up to the brightness of the sun, is her life just a small part of her journey home.  Be the flower in life, accept and relish each moment for what it is, knowing that it is all part of the eternal journey.
