A Lie

It’s the subtle fragrance of a lie,

that permeates the room.

It’s something you’re not saying,

I think you stopped to soon.

So I ask you clearly is that it,

you’re nodding like a dog.

I feel a little bit uncomfortable,

that you had to swear to god.

The subtle fragrance of the lie,

now lingers here between us.

I have to take you at your word,

as I don’t like to make a fuss.

But there’s something in the air,

and I just have to work it out.

As what stands between us now,

is a fog that’s thick with doubt.

Dormant

My thoughts lay dormant,

I drift away,

I roll away on a breath.

My heart slowing down,

I close my eyes,

my essence is much less.

A deepening into being,

I come to be,

on every single breath.

Dormant on the outside,

the ‘I’ to bed,

time for my soul to rest.

Is it Edible

I went down on the beach again to read a book. I was accompanied by a couple of crows, a change from the usual seagulls.

I was eating a pack of almonds, so threw a couple for them to see if they would eat them.

Looking for more!

It was quite funny watching them and they kept me company for the rest of the afternoon. It might have looked a bit weird me being guarded by a couple of crows but I’m not one to care.  I’m not sure if crows usually eat almonds, but they appeared to find these edible enough 😉

Finding my Moxie

I’ve reached a place in time that’s right,

I’ve found myself at long last.

A place I speak up for what I believe in,

didn’t always do it in the past.

Took an age for me to find my moxie,

to not to keep it all under a lid.

To only agree with what society said,

would you believe I once did.

Now I’m as bold as brass, determined too,

I won’t take anyones shit.

If Moxie is what you call it now days,

I’ll wear the cap and say it fits.

I’m determined to get my point across,

I barge my way to the front.

But I’m eloquent with the words I use,

I do my best not to confront.

Leave Well Alone…

Don’t trouble trouble, until trouble troubles you!

I love this expression, one of my mum’s although I don’t know where she got it from. It means leave well alone, if something is going to happen, it will and no amount of worrying is going to stop it. Why worry over the inevitable and why worry if something is not going to happen. What possible good can worrying about something do, it’s a wasted emotion and does nothing more than add a few more frown lines.

Actually it can bring things to us, if like attracts like then negative thoughts might well attract negative occurrences.  What ever we put out we get back, it’s the way of the world so we have to think carefully about what it is we are putting out.

Leave negative imaginings alone, focus on the good as much as possible and don’t meddle with what you don’t want.

I’m not troubling trouble at the moment, I’m on holiday in Carbis Bay, Cornwall enjoying the most glorious week and eating far too much. Maybe if I don’t worry about the calories, they won’t come 😉

None!!!

I’ve relocated, moved away,

my new life has begun.

Thou I’m missing internet,

you see as I have none.

My laptop cannot connect,

cannot find the page.

I just keep right on trying,

it causes such a rage.

Missing all my blogging pals,

doesn’t seem the same.

I’m not sure I’ll be happy,

until I’m online again.

I know I needed headspace,

time to sort out my life.

But this lack of any internet,

is causing so much strife.

I try connecting on the phone,

But the signal is so low.

I really have to count to ten,

or the phone I’ll throw.

Please bare with me, I’ll be back,

seven days until I’m on.

Seven days without connection,

then this issue will be gone!

Swarm

IMG_4549

The crowds all swarm to the seaside,

the trains are full to the brim.

Then some head down on the road,

as taking the new car for a spin.

The parking is quite atrocious here,

it’s much cheaper to get the train.

By the time you get a parking space,

it is time to head home again.

There’s new oil in the fryers today,

potatoes are pealed and ready.

The queue is right out the chippy,

but it’s going quick and steady.

The seagulls are waiting expectantly,

as they love a portion of chips.

Swarm down on the unsuspecting,

you have to eat them up quick.

There’s a murmuration of starlings,

it’s another swarm if you like.

Until they settle down on the old pier,

when all head home for the night.

Transcript – The Daily Post

I found this when clearing my mothers home after she passed away. I can understand why she kept it. I didn’t see my dad an awful lot, I used to wait at the window for him to arrive for hours. What I find fascinating is how far out the path and garden gate go. It tells me of a child trying to reach out to her dad.

I see him a lot more as an adult, plus now we have telephones, Skype and email.

Our Tree

This tree is beautiful, it might be my favourite tree in the world because it brings back so many memories.  The photos not great, taken through a steamy window on a dull day, so it does not show its true beauty.

This photo was taken from my mums kitchen window in Autumn. At the time Mum was staying with sisters who was caring for her, I wanted her to see how lovely the tree was.  The colours are amazing, we all adored this tree, it grew up with us. These deep russets and reds colours only lasted a few weeks and then the leaves would fall off for winter.  Spring would bring the most beautiful blossom and summer full beauty.  Whatever time of year this tree gave us it’s all.

A while after mums death I drove around the estate and stood under this tree looking up at my childhood home.  Another family were moving about in the flat, another family had our tree.

The tree was planted when I was a child and brings back lots of memories. Sweaters thrown under it while the kids on the estate played British Bulldog, my mum leaving bread and cheese for the birds and foxes under it, and the welcome shade it gave us in the summer.

I know when it comes to trees this one won’t win any awards but it is special to me.  I think I might need to drive up and visit this tree soon. Place my hand on its trunk and thank it for the memories ❤️

Jump – DP

You really made me jump,

I did not know,

that you might return

after having to go.

But there you were

at the end of the bed,

I thought it strange,

maybe in my head.

Oh how I wish now,

I hadn’t  screamed out loud,

my head was foggy,

just a mass of cloud.

I’m sorry you went,

believing I didn’t care,

I really need you near me

again, just over there.

So now I’m prepared,

I sleep with in dimmed light,

hoping and praying,

you’ll return one night.
