Spirit v Human

IMG_5596

If only I could win the lottery or come into some money, I could do all the things I wanted, I could be kind and spiritual, I could think more of others and make a difference, I could truly live my purpose‘.

Does this statement or something similar sound familiar?

It’s very easy to be spiritual when our human side is taken care of, when we don’t have to work and that human we reside in has everything it needs for us to just concentrate on being a spiritual being. But the truth is, that human does exist, it needs, it wants and it’s more often than not in control.

We are spiritual beings living in humans, we have humans and they have us and although our spirit being wants to spring out, most of us have to take care of the human and it’s personality first.

There are and have been some truly wonderful people on earth, people who’s humans have allowed the spirit through, even those that allow the spirit to lead, but it’s not common. It might be what we strive for, in fact I think that’s the whole idea of us being put together but it’s something that takes many lifetimes to achieve.

If only this, or if only that goes on throughout our lives, the relationship between spirit and human. And that’s it, if we consider it more of a relationship, we might help both parties have their say, conflict resolution, relationship guidance, call it what you will.

My spirit knows, I’m not sure how, call it a knowing that we are destroying the world, we are using up all the resources, polluting the air and seas. But the spirit lives inside the human that turns the light on, fills the car and needs a holiday in the sun. There is an ongoing conversation, should we, shouldn’t we’ within all of us and it’s because we are talking to ourselves, ourselves being the human personality and spirit within.

Many people go through life, totally human, the spirit is there but it’s asleep, it’s given in. It’s not an easy task after all and I suppose, if it is why we are born, it’s not supposed to be. But, if our spirit is strong enough, clear enough, it can get itself heard, the relationship can become more equal.

When we practice listening, we learn, if we sit in meditation or just silent contemplation for a little time each day, we are building the relationship between the two. We are allowing the spirit time to communicate and assisting the human in understanding. Isn’t that what we would recommend in any relationship, time together to create understanding and grow.

When we give ourselves, spirit and human, chance, both can be heard. It’s like any relationship, it needs time and space to grow. When we spend time each day, listening and communing with both parties, we are building the relationship, we are starting to work together, we are in rapport with who we are.

So perhaps it not about that lottery win after all, it’s not about giving the human everything it needs to release the spiritual side of us, perhaps it’s just about the relationship we nurture between the two that creates something beautiful.

I Wait…

I wait,

for something beyond my grasp,

my vision and thinking mind.

I wait,

for something beyond the self,

wait and hope to find.

~

I feel,

there’s something beyond me,

I knew it from the start,

I feel,

within rhythms of being,

pounding in my heart.

~

I see,

far beyond the horizon,

light that shines out so bright,

I see,

with utmost clarity,

a land that’s still out of sight.

~

I know,

way beyond what they tell me,

that this is a fraction of being,

I know,

with all of my senses here,

of visions I’m not yet seeing.

All You Need…..

The universe is not outside of you, look inside yourself, everything that you want you are ~ Rumi

All you need, you already have, everything that you require to get through life you already possess. We hold great knowledge within us, we came with it, we just need to trust in this truth and locate it.

It is in our capability to access all the knowledge we will ever need, it is inside each of us and all of us, as individuals and as united souls. Asking means listening and trusting, remaining open to suggestion but listening for and trusting in our own internal voice.

We are older than we think, older than our bodies, we have been here before and we will come here again, we are old souls and can access all that we need to know, we can remember and tap into the souls of many lifetimes and access the universal knowledge that flows through these lives.

There are no questions without answers, even the ones we have not answered on earth have been answered at some point on some plane. We are capable of accessing these answers, because they were written for us.

Yes, we forget, we become immersed in the physical and forget our greatness. We forget to trust, we somehow lost the belief we were born with.

Take a look at nature, nature hasn’t forgot, nature continues without schools, newspapers and brainwashing. We are nature and like nature we can find answers, we are meant to flow like a river, bloom like a flower, rise and fall like the sun and come together like the seas.

Look at the butterfly and ask how it knew to build a chrysalis, if it thought about it, if it knew it would ever fly, because I think if they could talk, they would tell us they followed their instincts, they listened to their internal voice.

Do you hear that inner voice, and if so, does it tell you if you ask what you find you already intuitively know or point you in the right direction when you come to a fork in the road. Do you have a certain feeling that you have an inner knowing, but fail to trust in it?

I think it’s about time we started to listen to ourselves, practice this ancient skill and follow our own intuition. The world is a scary place when everyone looks to another for answers, is happy to be led by those that profess to know, or want the power of control.

We have lost the art of knowing, we have forgotten what we once knew, we have given in somehow and become reliant on being told.

All that we will ever need we already possess…..

A Single Wave

IMG_6866

A single wave cannot change the sea any more than the weather can change the sky. They remain as they are whatever appears to be happening on the surface, the sky and sea will always be. We are just the same, life brings changes, clouds and ripples to our lives but we remain as we always were.

We are more than the people we think we are, we are as constant as the sea and sky, we are eternal. The things that happen to us, the things we think are important cannot really affect us, they affect the person but not the presence inside, the awareness that is our true nature.

The sun continues to shine behind the clouds, as our light continues even on the darkest of days. The sea moves as one beneath the waves, unaffected by what happens on the surface, as what happens to us each day is on the surface. Deep inside and all around we are greater than what happens. What happens, happens but we continue.

The person we think we are will age, will feel and will eventually die. We are all on the same journey, we are all heading towards death as the wave that crashes to the shore and is no more. Only then will we discover the true self that is constant, eternal as the sea and sky, only then will we understand the dream of life.

Whatever happens, know it will not change you, the real and constant being, it is just a ripple, a cloud, nothing more.

To Die to the Ego

Our lives a vast illusion,

as it’s to die that we are born.

To die from all we believed in,

attachments must be torn.

To die inside and surrender,

realise that there is no ‘I’.

Only a falsehood of the ego,

and a fundamental lie.

To die to all we’ve created,

is to find our way to life.

Being only as the observer,

with no ownership of strife.

The ego will battle to exist,

we’re taking on a hard fight.

Moments every now and then,

we’ll know we have it right.

The slaughter of the ego mind,

is to die without hanging on.

It’s a fight for all humanity,

to find where we all belong.

Blindly to Being

Sometimes it takes a while to be,

a while to find our shape.

At first we often get life wrong,

we have to make mistakes.

It’s quite blindly that we carry on,

but we won’t know the way.

Though with trust our sacred ally,

we will come to be someday.

We’ll never find all the answers,

but some become more clear.

Working on through all the clues,

in the time that we are here.

It’s right that we arrive here blind,

so that we can uncover seeing.

Discover our beauty on our own,

while we’re coming into being.

Daily Prompt – Blindly

To Reflect on Life

Reflecting on life can assist us in seeing and making sense of past events. Sometimes when we look again, things change shape, they are not always how we remember them. To look back is to be able to look forward in a way, because if we are unable to reflect it’s unlikely we can plan effectively.

Reflection is helpful when we have unanswered questions, are traumatised or blocked by experience, have false memories or maybe carrying baggage we need to let go of.

My lovely blogging friend tells me she likes to just be, that’s fine and good for her because she has probably made sense of herself and doesn’t have any unanswered questions. We would all like to be like her I’m sure, having made sense of the past I can’t think of much else apart from just being.

Oh hang on what about planning, making sure we are on the right path, doing the right thing and making the most out of life. How will we really know when it’s right to just be!!

Whatever the answer, on reflection, I feel it is probably right, as long as we work from the heart, because everything starts there.
