Nature Lessons 120

Does the blade of grass  see itself as separate from the field, or does it recognise itself as the field.  When we continue to see ourselves as separate from anything else we become stuck, we are  absorbed in the self.  When we recognise our connection to all things we begin to understand our place in all things, we are then at one with the world and flow with the universe.

Without Words

There are only so many words,

yet none of these are right.

How can one explain divinity,

the deep and out of sight.

That which cannot be spoken,

because the words won’t fit.

Knowledge so inexplicable,

we can’t make sense of it.

We just go on repeating,

what has been said before.

As we do so we are trying,

to knock upon that door.

The door to all creation,

the one just out of sight.

In grace we are searching,

how to live just right.

We will never have the words,

because they don’t exist.

The best that we can hope for,

is that we get the gist.

Nature Lessons 119

Nature welcomes each season, change is inevitable and each season brings with it something new.  Nature bows gracefully to the new season, plants and flowers fall in death to nourish the earth, making way for new life, some will step aside as if suspended until a time of renewal.  We all have our time to shine on earth, let it mean something.

Nature Lessons 118

Plants and flowers are continuously changing, growing, opening up and letting go of layers they no longer need.  As the centre opens the external leaves unfold and drop, this appears to revolve around the central point, the heart of the plant.  The plant is so much more beautiful when it lets go of those aged outer leaves, those leaves of the plant that no longer nourish the heart.

Sunday Questions

Is it a far away place I’m looking for,

a place far away from here.

Will I be leaving what is real,

what I already have very near.

Who is the ‘I’ that is searching,

and who is the ‘I’ that thinks.

Am I really disconnecting,

each and every time I blink.

So where is the self enquiry,

while I’m engaged with my mind.

What’s the point in longing,

and what am I trying to find.

The search begun when I found me,

separate from anything else.

The road is long and lonesome,

a road I will walk by myself.

Our lives are all about meetings,

the things we find on the way.

And the waking up is endless,

there’s always another day.

Nature Lessons 117

Most of us carry around stuff that does not serve us such as outdated beliefs, imagined responsibilities, habits, dysfunctional relationships and other things that we no longer need. When we carry excess baggage around with us, it weighs us down and holds us up.  To reach our destination it is good to acknowledge and let go of that what we no longer need by just letting it fall away.

Everything….

Everything will one day go, nothing is forever.  However maddening this thought might be, our bodies will age, our looks will diminish and our hair will thin and maybe fall out. Our brains will slow down and our minds fail us at some point. Relationships will end and people we love will die. Friendships finish and new ones begin, people will continue to come in and out of our lives.

The house and car will age, the job finish, paintings and photographs will fade and those wonderful things we have around us will one day be junk. Savings rise and fall continuously, stocks and shares will go up and down.

The earth as we know it will change.  Shorelines will change shape, cliffs erode, air quality might reduce and stars will eventually run out of gas and die.

For everything there is a beginning and an end, nothing stays forever.  It’s a sobering thought isn’t it, that everything around us including the vehicle we travel in as our body will some day come to an end.

This makes it even more necessary for us to take care of our inner being, our spirit, soul, whatever you like to call it, because that I think this might be the only thing that will last, that will outlive all those things we think so precious.  My inner being, yours too, is not concerned with wealth or collections, they are the presence inside of this vehicle, just waiting and watching for everything else to end.
