Float…

I watched the petal as it floated,

on a warm and gentle breeze.

Saw it falling with abandon,

it was mingling with the trees.

I stood and silently witnessed,

a fine dance between the two.

While hidden among the roses,

I watched until it was through.

I wondered what they spoke of,

what would it mean to me.

If the petal and the tree knew,

would they dance so I could see.

Would the petal float around me,

and include me in their show.

I watched the petal fall to earth,

I guess I’ll never really know.

Tempted

I’m often tempted to give up,

just throw in my hand.

Stay in bed and just give in,

would you understand.

Sometimes I cannot go on,

pretending all is good.

Then I get a glimpse of you

confirming why I should.

That temptation to give in,

just will not go away.

I may be steadfast on my path,

then I’ll find I sway.

To balance or just hold on tight,

I’m finding harder to do.

But then I remember my reason,

and that of course is you.

Resilient

West Pier, Brighton, UK

I love this old pier, my favourite place in town.  I visit in all my moods and it shows me the same.  The beautiful calm of a balmy summer day, the ferociousness of a winter storm, day and night this place speaks to me. It’s gradually falling into the sea, each year another section has disappeared.  Used now only by seagulls and starlings the old girl is fading.  She’s resilient though, two fires and multiple storms and she’s still standing.

Body Language

So you don’t want me around,

the signs being oh so clear.

With the crossing of your arms,

I know you don’t want me near.

Your message doesn’t say to me,

what your bodies telling me.

The language that you’re using,

doesn’t match with what I see.

Repeated tapping of your foot,

tells me that I shouldn’t stay.

You’ve passively aggressively,

told me I should go away.

A Gaze

It is quite difficult to look someone in the eyes in silence and hold their gaze, to gaze at one another in truth without fear of being found out.  When we do manage to do this, we begin to recognise ourselves, see ourself in another, know that we are really just the same, originating from the same place. The being in each of us sees the struggle, yet recognises itself in the other, understands the search. When we find ourselves in a trusting relationship with another, we are finding ourselves in everything that is.
