Sympathy for my Youth

It’s with greatest sympathy,

I say goodbye to my youth.

You see I’m gradually ageing,

I’m getting long in the tooth.

It’s not that I fear getting older,

I welcome it if you like.

I suppose I’m sort of retro now,

new can go take a hike.

No I don’t want to be young again,

I quite like being mature.

My death is still an age away,

I hope so but I’m not to sure.
