Nervous

I’m slightly nervous about the future,

some things are going to change.

I don’t know where I’m going yet,

with still so much I need to arrange.

It’s like walking along a pathway,

lit by candles that flicker and dim.

I’m on the precipice of my destiny,

don’t know where or how to begin.

I’m a little nervous about leaving,

the breaking down of what I know.

Then going out into the future now,

and not sure of where I should go.

You see, my heart is beating faintly,

then it misses the odd beat or two.

The world is out there waiting now,

but I’m not really sure what to do.

People tell me that they want me near,

but just to go is yet another chance.

I’m going to have to forget I’m nervous,

after all this is just another dance.

  3. Love it! Beautifully articulated experience of the anxiety that comes when starting something new. I especially loved the phrase “the precipice of my destiny” – I find the things that cause us the most fear or nervousness tend to be those that fall in line with our purpose, the things that will set us more fully on our path. Thank you for sharing this!
